Incoming Freshmen,
The administration, faculty, staff, and students welcome you to the Cedar Grove-Belgium High School (CGBHS) family and the beginning of the 2024-25 school year! Your four years at CGBHS will offer many exciting opportunities to develop your talents and skills in preparation for your future. The high school experience will be one of the most memorable journeys in your life.
In an effort to guide and prepare you for the transition to high school, we invite and encourage you to attend our Freshmen Orientation Program on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Only students will attend this event and can feel free to bring items they want to leave in their locker.
Orientation will be led by a team of staff advisors and the Freshmen Mentors. The mentors are a group of junior and senior student ambassadors who are dedicated to helping make your transition to high school as rewarding and easy as possible. Each mentor will be assigned one to two freshmen with whom they will support. Your mentors will connect with you throughout your freshman year. They are very excited to meet and greet you!
The Freshmen Orientation Program will begin with a welcome message from the High School Principal, Mr. Ketterhagen, myself (the High School Counselor), Ms. Smillie, and a group of our teachers. Throughout the program you will participate in several fun activities with your mentors that will help you get to know each other and learn more about the high school. Some of these activities will include a high school tour, practicing using your locker, a “mini-schedule” practice to help you get used to how the high school day runs, a few messages from our mentors on what they think you really need to know, and some fun socializing time over a pizza lunch that we will provide!
From there, you can stay for our open house to get your school picture taken and receive your Chromebook.
