Fruit & Veggie Bar
Have you ever wondered “What’s on the Fruit & Veggie Bar?”
We must offer at least 1 cup of fruits and vegetables to the high school students, and at least ¾ cup of vegetables and ½ cup of fruit to the middle and elementary students daily. We must offer ½ cup legume (beans) and green leafy vegetables weekly, as well as red/orange daily.
Here are some examples of what we offer:
Hot Vegetables - Broccoli, corn, green beans, peas, mixed vegetables, carrots, cauliflower, refried beans, baked beans, black beans, pinto beans, baked potato, mashed potato, french fries, tater tots, hash-browns, roasted peppers and onion.
Raw Vegetables - Baby carrots, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumbers, kale, lettuce, romaine, spinach, radishes, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cole slaw.
Canned Fruits - Peaches, pears, pineapple, fruit cocktail, tropical fruit, mandarin oranges, apple slices, applesauce, strawberry cups, orange juice, apple juice, grape juice, frozen fruit cup.
Fresh Fruits - Apple slices, oranges, bananas, kiwi, pears, grapes, strawberries, watermelon, melon and frozen blueberries.
